Tenali Rama's Krishna Bharadwaj On Refusing Projects Demanding Him To Go Bald Again: 'I Am Not Comfortable Doing That Anymore'- EXCLUSIVE
Actor Krishna Bharadwaj, who essayed the title role in TV show Tenali Rama for three and half years, is all set for his comeback. Post the show went off-air, Krishna has been busy with his travel plans and working on his body. However, the role which is being offered to him wants him to go bald again for which the actor is not ready. And in an exclusive chat with us, Krishna revealed the reason behind his decisions;

How's life after Tenali Rama?
Well life after Tenali Rama has been quite relaxed and is filled with lots of rest.

What's keeping you busy?
I am keeping busy with extensive travel. I visited my family back in my hometown Ranchi to spend some quality time with them which I couldn’t earlier due to a rigorous shoot schedule. This was shortly followed by my trip to Goa. Apart from that I have been enjoying spiritual retreats.

Like?
I recently spent a few days in my ashram in Karjat. I would soon be going to Bangalore to meet Sri Ravishankar Ji.

Are you working on your body too?
Physically, I have been doing hard core gymming to shed weight. Apparently, I might soon enroll in a dance class as well.

What sort of roles have you come across post the show?
I got a few approaches for daily soaps and the makers were ready to feature me in a bald look almost instantly. Even one of the OTT platforms offered me a role with a bald characterisation. I didn’t accept either of them cause I didn’t want to take a step closer to becoming borderline typecast.

Do you have the fear of getting typecast?
Well, honestly I had it earlier but now I don’t have the fear of getting typecast because my appearance has changed to a great extent. Earlier when I used to visit public places, people used to recognise me as Tenali due to lack of spate but now they don’t because they haven’t seen much of Krishna Bharadwaj. I have faith in myself as an artist and strongly believe that I can pull off any character that comes my way with or without hair.

What sort of characters do you want to play then?
I would like versatility in characteristics to enlighten my profile anyday as an artist. I am waiting for the right offers to come my way. I am looking for more of an intense and passionate character with a negative or psychotic shade to it. I would like to take up a characterisation which works as an antonym to Tenali Rama. I cherish the mood transitions Tenali offered but I would like to perform a character that’s grave and realistic. I feel OTT would quench my thirst for growth as an artist and I am looking forward to a digital debut.

Krihsna would not like to go bald again on screen?
Yes, I said no to the offers to refrain from becoming typecast. One of the reasons for saying no is the probability of bald looks not working for the roles I am getting offers for the way it worked for Tenali Rama. On a personal note, I am not comfortable portraying a role without my hair anymore. I would like to showcase my voluptuous mane in characters I take up ahead. Of course, if there’s some character which has a wonderful strength and requires me to be bald again, I wouldn’t step back from taking it up in future sometime.
